Gym Rules Part I

first_img4. Have a plan and keep a written log of each session.  This goes along with Point 1 set yourself short, medium and long term goals that are SMARTER.  Use these to write a plan that progresses towards these goals and keep a log book of your training so that you can plan your session (rather than trying to remember what you did last time) and review what went well and what was not so good.Lift more weight for the same number of sets and reps or same weight for more sets and reps is a very easy way to make sure you are progressing rather than just going through the motions in the gym.  It sounds simplistic and obvious but it is amazing how many people do exactly the same session week to week yet wonder why they are not making progress!  Read the 3 to 5 rule for more on planning sessions.5. 60 minutes or less. If you are training for 2 hours it is a fair assumption you are wasting a great deal of that time.  Your stores of energy and hormones such as testosterone are optimal up to 60 minutes after which they deplete so that your training becomes far less effective. Follow these simple gym rules to be a better player1. Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance – Making sure you are adequately fuelled and hydrated should be started at the very least the day before you train not in the car on the… way to the gym!  See how Danny Care prepares here. Make sure you have eaten and had time to digest at least one meal depending on the time of day you train and you have drunk at least one litre of water.  A good rule of thumb is that every time you pee it should be clear and odourless.  Note though that some vitamins and supplements may change the colour of your urine.  When you have finished training eat a balanced meal and rehydrate – see how Wasps scrum-half Joe Simpson recovers here. Training is 1/24th of your day and recovery is 23/24ths so make sure to do it right!2. Use the right equipment – You wouldn’t play rugby on a muddy pitch in trainers so to make the most of your gym training you need the right footwear and clothing.  The 3 essentials for the gym are shoes, a belt and lifting chalk.a) Weightlifting shoes are an essential if you are going to squat, deadlift or perform Olympic lifts as the wooden heel gives you a solid, stable platform rather than the cushioned and therefore unstable surface most running trainers have.b) A good belt will help you brace your midsection and protect your back when lifting.c) Lifting chalk will keep your hands dry ensuring you are able to properly grip your weights without having to rely on straps which when used excessively prevent grip strength developing.3. Warm up – if you haven’t time to warm up you haven’t time to train.  Get the blood flowing with 5 minutes of skipping, rowing or running, perform some dynamic stretches and start each exercise with a light weight which you gradually increase up to your work sets.  This will allow you to rehearse the movements and work the specific ranges of movement for that exercise. When you go to the gym to train do just that.  Leave your phone in the locker, limit talk to your training partner to give them cues, encouragement or ask what weight they need and focus your energy on the exercises.  Everything else can wait till after.Check out Part II here My Gym, My Rules! Robbo is timing you! 10 minutes to warm up and 50 minutes to train is more than enough time.  3 to 5 exercises for 3 to 5 sets of 3 to 5 reps with a few minutes rest between sets will take at the very longest 10 minutes per exercise so you can see that this is easily achievable. In the first briefing meeting with our clients Angie, Vic and their Dalmatian Pirate, Angie’s main brief requirement was that she wanted people to walk in and say/think “holy f***”…It was conceived as a place for entertaining, whereby the owners regularly have guests stay including family and friends from within Australia and abroad. Thus, the house had to function firstly as a home to its two full-time occupants (and their Dalmatian) and secondly as a luxury hotel; each guest bedroom is provided with its own ensuite and robe areas, so essentially their guests can “check-in” to their own space before moving into the main living zones of the house.Save this picture!© Ben HoskingThe planning responds to the site surrounds by turning its back on the one adjacent neighbour and opening up to the beautiful golf course views to the south and east. The dilapidated object of the old non-functional mill was given a new face, according to a project from Atrium Architekti studio. A new feature comes with her hand. The building was awarded the National Architecture Prize – the Dušan Jurkovič Prize 2017. Logically, the flats have supplemented the existing structure of solitary family houses and the medium-high ossampler building of residential buildings near the nearby elementary school. The street line, as well as the distance to the neighbouring land, are given by the existing buildings. Local service communications from the north side lead the site. The terrain of the building site is considered south by a slight decline. An object with a rectangular plan is located in its northern part.Save this picture!© Martin PitoňákSave this picture!Elevation and Floor PlanSave this picture!© Martin PitoňákOn the ground floor, there will be two apartments with access to private gardens separated from the surrounding green hedge. Among the apartments, there is a boiler room and common areas with cellars. On the second and third floors, there are three apartments. On the fourth floor are three maisonette apartments, the upper, 5th floor of which has two outbuildings on the open terrace. The roof is designed as a tin-zinc titanium with slots on open terraces. It is to be said that anything in the place of a broken-down building would be better. New apartments, however, have the potential to truly and truly revive the building. To the investor’s point of view, he also did not use the popular formula: the old burst and rebuild and modern.Save this picture!© Martin PitoňákSave this picture!SectionsSave this picture!© Martin PitoňákArchitects did not miss the original volume and interior layout. They do not try to completely overlap it and rework it; their intervention, however, involves the former mill in the new facade and represents a new arrangement of holes, but there is still a hint that it is not a new building. The interventions can be compared to a clean and uncompromising cut that will allow rapid and effective treatment. Simple windows and tent roof in the slope that refers to the original shape of the roof are reminiscent of the original fill of the object. The design works with titanium zinc roofing. Sure, it is not the cheapest idea, but any other material would taste refined reconstruction either from a functionally functional point of view (in the case of titanium substitution for a cheaper coloured sheet) or aesthetic (any other cover).Save this picture!© Martin PitoňákBalconies in the form of sloping drawers and the old-fashioned element of the gallery give the project a joke and smut. The use of hook could be considered as another reference to the production past. However, the shape of the pavlax itself and the vertical communications, which are without barriers admitted to the exterior as a new element added, are purely contemporary, almost timeless. The playfulness and ease of input reveal even the inevitable accentuation of the input by pulling one panel out of the treble, replacing it with a transparent glass railing. On a monochromatic palette with white plaster and grey metallic elements, the agate wood on the extended balconies and outdoor applications and interiors blended. New Tech class making Teen Dating Violence PSAs

first_img WhatsApp Facebook Pinterest Facebook WhatsApp Twitter Local NewsEducation New Tech class making Teen Dating Violence PSAs Teen Dating Violence Information.Crisis Center of West Texas.New Tech Odessa. With Teen Dating Violence Month coming up in February, Ariel Thurber’s class at George H.W. Bush New Tech Odessa is creating public service announcements for the Crisis Center of West Texas.Lydia Garcia, director of community services at the Crisis Center, said this is the third year a contest is being held for the best videos. She said the agency usually receives between 15 and 20 entries from New Tech.Community leaders are invited to watch the videos and pick the best ones. An assembly is then arranged to show the videos at New Tech. This year it is tentatively set for 2:30 p.m. Feb. 28 in the school’s cafeteria.Teen dating violence is the physical, sexual, psychological, or emotional violence within a dating relationship, including stalking. It can occur in person or electronically and might occur between a current or former dating partner, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website said.Thurber, who teaches digital media and yearbook and journalism, said the students also are making educational videos about human growth and development to help prompt conversations between youngsters and parents about sex, abstinence and birth control, Thurber said.In addition to requiring equal numbers of sports teams for men and women, Title IX offices also investigate outcries of sexual assault and harassment.“None of my kids knew about Title IX and what it protects them from and what it’s for. I told them there’s probably a bunch of other teenagers who have no idea what Title IX is either. So you can teach them and you can educate them. Just make it fun and make it interesting so they’d want to watch, so if they ever have an issue with this then they know that they’re protected,” Thurber said.Sophomores Caeden Gamboa, 16, Daniel Levario, 15, Adamary Dominguez, 15, and Sahamira Toro, 16, are working on a teen dating violence video.“Going into this I already knew that we were going to have to do a teen dating violence video and I was really excited to do something like that because it’s more dramatic. It’s something that’s about the real world and something that affects everyone in high school. I was already coming up with ideas, and as someone that likes to film, I was really intrigued and excited about the different ways of going around it and expressing it,” Gamboa said. What surprised him was how many teenagers have experienced dating violence in some way and not said anything. Gamboa said he would think someone would have said something. He said he and the Crisis Center talked to them and he talked to his mother, who volunteered there for a long time. Gamboa added that he talked to friends, as well, who told him about their experience with teen dating violence and how it impacted them.“We’re going to incorporate those things into the video and hopefully share it and get the word out there,” Gamboa said.Daniel Levario, a 15-year-old sophomore, said he thinks the video will be informative for teenagers. He added that he doesn’t know anyone affected by teen dating violence, but it’s always good to raise awareness. He said the video will cover signs of teen dating violence such as arguing or physical abuse.“I think it’s very important because this always leads to worse things than what it’s already at,” Levario said. The CDC website said many teens do not report dating violence because they are afraid to tell friends and family. A 2017 CDC Report found that about 7 percent of women and 4 percent of men who ever experienced rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner first experienced some form of partner violence by that partner before age 18, the site said.“The 2013 national Youth Risk Behavior Survey found approximately 10 percent of high school students reported physical victimization and 10 percent reported sexual victimization from a dating partner in the 12 months before they were surveyed,” the site said.Garcia said sometimes young people don’t know who to turn to, but the Crisis Center can connect them with community resources. The Information Commissioner Neeraj Kumar Gupta observed that the filing of the Income Tax Returns by an individual with the Income Tax Department is not a public activity. “It is in the nature of an obligation which a citizen owes to the State viz. to pay his taxes, this information cannot be disclosed to the applicant in the absence of any larger public interest”, the Commission said. The matter before the Court The Appellant/Husband wanted the information related to name and branch address of all those banks wherein his spouse was having account, at any point of time, during the financial years 2012-2013 to 2017-2018. The appellant contended before the Commission that he was seeking information about his legally wedded wife, and therefore, the CPIO should have invoked Section 11 of the RTI Act, 2005. Further, he submitted that the information regarding her bank details & income tax returns should be disclosed. To this, the respondent (CPIO, O/o. the Income Tax) submitted that the appellant was seeking clarification with regard to the bank details & income tax returns of his wife, which is personal in nature and therefore CPIO, O/o. the Income Tax claimed exemption u/Section 8(1)(j) of the RTI Act, 2005. It was also submitted that Section 11 of the RTI Act, 2005 can only be invoked if the CPIO intends to disclose the personal information and therefore, once the CPIO is satisfied that the information is to be denied under Section 8(1)(j) of the RTI Act, 2005, Section 11 is not required to be invoked. Lastly, the respondent stated that prima facie, no larger public interest is involved in the matter and hence, the CPIO did not intend to disclose this information. Decision of the Commission Agreeing with the stand of the respondent in not invoking Section 11 of RTI Act, the Commission said, “The CPIO is expected to follow the procedure of Section 11 when he ‘intends to disclose any information or record’. In the present case, the CPIO did not find any merit in disclosure and accordingly, Section 11 was not invoked.” Further, with regards to the applicability of Section 8(1)(j) of the RTI Act, 2005 for non-disclosure of the third party bank details and income tax returns, the Commission referred to the Supreme Court’s Judgment in the case of Girish Ramchandra Deshpande v. Central Information Commission [(2013) 1 SCC 212]. In the above said case, the Apex Court had ruled the details disclosed by a person in his income tax returns are “personal information” which stand exempted from disclosure under clause (j) of Section 8(1) of the RTI Act, unless involves a larger public interest and the Central Public Information Officer or the State Public Information Officer or the Appellate Authority is satisfied that the larger public interest justifies the disclosure of such information. The Commission also referred to the Delhi High Court judgment in Vijay Prakash v. Union of India [AIR 2010 Delhi 7] in which it was held that, in a private dispute between husband and wife, the basic protection afforded by virtue of the exemption from disclosure enacted under Section 8(1)(j) cannot be lifted or disturbed unless the petitioner is able to justify how such disclosure would be in ‘public interest’. The Court also noted the definition of ‘Third Party’ and observed that the husband in this case is a ‘third party’ for the purpose of the RTI Act. “From the words circumscribed u/Section 2(n) of the RTI Act, 2005, it is vividly clear that any person other than the citizen making a request for information can be termed as ‘third party’. Therefore, Ms. Mamta @ Mamta Arora being a person other than the RTI applicant surely comes within the definition of ‘third party’. Moreover, the CPIO has also not intended to disclose the information treating it as confidential and has rather pleaded that there is no public interest in the matter. This Commission also does not find any public interest which outweighs the harm caused in its disclosure.” Lastly, the Commission, after considering the factual matrix of the case was of the opinion that in the absence of any larger public interest in the matter, the appellant is not entitled to seek information regarding bank details & income tax returns of his wife which is exempted u/Section 8(1)(j) of the RTI Act, 2005. With the above observations, the appeal was disposed of. Ravindra Bhat held that he is liable to be convicted for the offence under Section 304 Part I of the Indian Penal Code and not under Section 302 IPC. Pardeshiram was accused of murdering one Kartik Ram in an incident which occurred on 30.5.2002. Pursuant to a dispute between them over construction of a wall, Pardeshiram had allegedly assaulted the deceased with a spade and hit him with a stone on his head and as a result, the deceased died. The Trial Court convicted him under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The High Court dismissed his appeal. In appeal, it was contended that the offence was committed without premeditation in the sudden fight in the heat of passion and, thus, falls within Exception 4 of Section 300 IPC. It was also submitted that the accused and the deceased are members of the family and that the dispute occurred on the question of raising the wall. “The appellant is alleged to have hit the deceased with the Shovel, a common agricultural tool, and later picked up a stone to hit the deceased. Such injuries were caused in the heat of passion as is likely to cause death. Therefore, it will be culpable homicide not amounting to murder falling within the first part of Section 304 IPC.”, it was contended.. Taking note of these aspects, the bench observed:”The accused is an agriculturist, and the Shovel is a part of an agricultural tool that is possessed by agriculturists. The accused was attributed with the first blow with the Shovel followed a hit by a stone on the head of the deceased which was picked up from the street. The accused and the deceased were from the same family. The cause of provocation was sudden, without premeditation. We find that, in the facts and circumstances of the case, it is a case falling under Exception 4 of Section 300 IPC. The injuries were inflicted without premeditation in a sudden fight in the heat of passion upon a sudden quarrel and without the offender having taken advantage or acted cruelly or unusually. In this view of the matter, 3 we find that the appellant is liable to be convicted for an offence under Section 304 Part I.” The Court therefore sentenced him to the sentence already undergone taking note of the period of custody undergone (eighteen years); the relationship between the accused and the deceased and the background in which the injuries were caused.CASE: PARDESHIRAM vs. STATE OF M.P. None of the other victims have been identified. The Sikorsky S-76 helicopter crashed under unknown circumstances, a spokesperson from the National Transportation Safety Board told ABC News.Witnesses who were mountain biking in the area saw the helicopter in distress, Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Tony Imbrenda told reporters. It is not known whether the pilot alerted over radio that the aircraft was in distress, Imbrenda said.It is unclear who the helicopter belonged to or where it originated from and was going to. Firefighters are working on containing the fire that resulted.Bryant was 41 years old.He was drafted to the NBA out of high school in 1996 and spent his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning five NBA championships. He was awarded NBA MVP in 2008 and NBA Finals MVP in 2009 and 2010.Bryant won gold medals as a member of the U.S. men’s basketball team in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.LeBron James surpassed Bryant on the all-time scoring list on Saturday during the Lakers’ game against the Philadelphia 76ers.“I’m happy just to be in any conversation with Kobe Bean Bryant — one of the all-time greatest basketball players to ever play, one of the all-time greatest Lakers,” James told reporters after the game. “The man got two jerseys hanging up in Staples Center. It’s just crazy.”Bryant tweeted at James congratulating him on beating his record.Continuing to move the game forward @KingJames. Much respect my brother #33644— Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) January 26, 2020In 2018, Bryant won an Academy Award for his animated short “Dear Basketball,” based on a poem he wrote in 2015 when he announced his retirement.Bryant told “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts in December 2015 that he wrote a letter to his fans upon retirement because he wanted to show how much they meant to him.“The letter itself still doesn’t do it justice and how important they’ve been — how vital they’ve been in my career,” he said. “And I mean, we grew up together. And that’s such a beautiful thing.”Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti described Bryant in a statement as a “giant who inspired, amazed, and thrilled people everywhere with his incomparable skill on the court — and awed us with his intellect and humility as father, husband, creative genius, and ambassador for the game he loved.”“He will live forever in the heart of Los Angeles, and will be remembered through the ages as one of our greatest heroes,” Garcetti said. “This is a moment that leaves us struggling to find words that express the magnitude of shock and sorrow we are all feeling right now, and I am keeping Kobe’s entire family in my prayers at this time of unimaginable grief.”The NBA Player’s Association wrote in a statement that it was “stunned and devastated” by the news of Bryant’s death.“Words cannot express his impact on our Players, the NBA and the game of basketball,” the statement read. “This is a monumental loss for the entire basketball community and our hearts are quite simply broken. We send love and prayers out to his wife Vanessa and the entire family.”The Lakers’ next game will be against the Los Angeles Clippers Tuesday at the Staples Center at 7 p.m. PT. The Magpie Salute Tears Up New York City [Photos/Full Video]

first_imgLoad remaining images Since announcing the end of the Black Crowes almost exactly two years ago, Rich Robinson has been flying high. Releasing a new album, filling in on guitar for Bad Company, and touring with the eponymous Rich Robinson Band kept him busy for the first year before he decided to reunite with one-time Crowes guitarist Marc Ford to form The Magpie Salute. A sprawling 10-member band that also includes ex-Crowes bassist Sven Pipien along with Rich Robinson Band drummer Joe Magistro and guitarist Nico Bereciartua, the Magpies held their coming-out party in New York this past January before embarking on a European tour to fine-tune their stagecraft. Upon returning to the U.S., they launched a 60-show tour that began in July and culminated in New York, November 15 and 16, at Irving Plaza.JJ Grey & Mofro, North Mississippi Osborne, And The Magpie Salute Take Over Red Rocks [Photos]With three guitarists, the Magpies play loud and hard, drawing on their Black Crowes ancestry as well as the Crowes’ tradition of well-chosen covers. Their opening night at Irving Plaza kicked things off with a string of Crowes standards—“Sting Me”, “Greasy Grass River”, and “Exit”—before settling into “Omission” from The Magpie Salute’s debut album. There were covers of Gram Parsons (“She”) and the Flying Burrito Brothers (“Christine’s Tune” and “Hot Burrito #2”). The band also worked in tunes from the solo albums of Robinson and Ford before getting back to familiar territory with more Crowes: “Title Song”, “Don’t Wake Me,” “Horsehead”, and “Sometimes Salvation.”The Magpie Salute Releases New Music Video For “Omission”It’s rare for a band as guitar-driven as the Magpie Salute to include a full complement of vocalists to deliver a more balanced sound, but John Hogg adds an energetic reggae influence supported by a trio of backup singers (Charity White, Adrien Reju, and Katrine Ottosen). On a sad note, original Magpie keyboardist Eddie Harsch, another Crowes alum, passed away shortly after the release of the Magpie album and has been replaced by Michael Bellar.Rich Robinson Reunites Black Crowes Members For Debut Of The Magpie Salute [Watch]The younger of the Robinson brothers, Rich was at times overshadowed by frontman Chris but now seems comfortable in a lead role with the Magpie Salute. Rich is a first-rate guitarist who has surrounded himself with a talented entourage to build upon the legacy of the Black Crowes and break new ground. The band will be releasing a live album with highlights from their year-long tour before getting back into the studio and out on the road to keep the momentum going. You can check out photos from The Magpie Salute’s performance on November 15th at Irving Plaza below, courtesy of the author.Watch full video of The Magpie Salute’s 11/15 Irving Plaza show below, via taper Steve Hagar:Watch full video of The Magpie Salute’s 11/16 Irving Plaza show below, via taper Steve Hagar: The Magpie Salute | Irving Plaza | New York, NY | 11/15/2017 | Photo: Lou Montesanocenter_img Photo: Lou Montesanolast_img read more
