Throughout the years, college administrators have had prominent ties with the city of Norwalk. The exhibit is called “Building Futures,” and includes memorabilia, historical photos and collector’s items. The display is available for viewing from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on alternating Fridays. Student ad contest has anti-drug theme WHITTIER — Brownie Girl Scout Troop No. 709 will hold a coat drive through this Friday at Primanti Montessori School, 10974 S. Valley Home Ave., to benefit the Women’s and Children’s Crisis Shelter of Whittier. Cerritos College relics on display BIRMINGHAM, Mich. — High-school students are being sought to participate in the sixth annual Courageous Persuaders student ad competition, created by the Courage First Foundation and the Birmingham, Mich.-based ad agency McCann Erickson. Participants are being asked to create a 30-second television commercial to discourage underage alcohol abuse among middle school students. The grand prize-winning commercial will be broadcast on television after the students finalize upgrades for on-air production with McCann Erickson. Top teams will also receive trophies, award certificates, and scholarship money to be split among team members. The grand prize is $3,000. First place wins $1,500, second place gets $1,000 and third place will receive $500. The deadline for submitting an entry is Feb. 28. College to host virtual courtroom project tour NORWALK — Cerritos College’s court reporting department is hosting a virtual tour via video conference of the Courtroom 21 Project from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the college’s Wilford Michael Library’s teleconference center, 11110 Alondra Blvd. Courtroom 21 is an ongoing international demonstration model that studies how technology can be used to improve all aspects of the judicial system. It also serves as an educational setting for the public, court staff and lawyers. The project is located in Williamsburg, VA, and is home to the William & Mary Law School mock trials.
