Warnock rubbishes boardroom reports

Now they have got a top-class striker Jose must be quietly confident of winning the title.” Warnock admits that defeating Chelsea requires an exceptional performance, but insists they have the ammunition to cause an upset. “It will have to be a superhuman effort,” Warnock said. “Everyone knows Chelsea have got to be below par and we have got to be at the top of our game to have any chance. That’s the same with any team playing against Chelsea. “But I’m concentrating on our players because if you think about their players too much you wouldn’t sleep. “We’ve got ammunition that can hurt them as well. We’ve got players who can cause them problems.” Press Association Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock denies he is being lined up for a move to the Selhurst Park boardroom. “I’m not ready [to move upstairs]. I will take the story with the pinch of salt,” Warnock said. “I know nothing about it. I’m afraid I’m not into that at the minute, I’m just concentrating on managing. “You are going to get rumours like that. I have come to help Palace out and I’m really enjoying it.” Palace have accumulated eight points in Warnock’s five Barclays Premier League games in charge, placing them four points above the relegation zone. Title favourites Chelsea are Saturday’s visitors, however, and Warnock believes Jose Mourinho’s team are capable of emulating Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ of 2003-04 by finishing the season unbeaten. “It is a possibility. When you look at the Arsenal team that did it, I think this is as near as you are going to get to a flawless team,” Warnock said. “It’s pretty solid everywhere. There are not many weaknesses in the team. “I was in the media last season and I tipped them to win the title. A report states that Warnock will be given a new position at the Barclays Premier League club once they find a suitable successor for his tracksuit role. The 65-year-old replaced Tony Pulis at the end of August and is six matches into his two-year contract. last_img
