RANCHO CUCAMONGA — A judge at a Rancho Cucamonga courthouse is scheduled today to decide whether to dismiss some of the charges against Jon Christopher Blaylock, a Chino prison inmate charged with murder in the stabbing death of prison guard Manuel Gonzalez of Whittier. However, it could be an uphill fight for Blaylock’s defense attorney. A judge earlier had denied pretty much the exact same request. Gonzalez’s death last year triggered a slew of reforms at the men’s state prison in Chino, including a review of safety procedures and the distribution of protective vests to guards. The vests were being kept in storage at the time Gonzalez was stabbed but had not been handed out to guards. For more on this story, pick up tomorrow’s Whittier Daily News.last_img
