first_imgBy City News Service A woman who surprised a burglar at her Santa Monica home was raped at knifepoint by the man, who remained at her residence for more than four hours until he fled in her luxury convertible early Friday, police said. A suspect has been taken into custody, said Lt. Alex Padilla of the Santa Monica Police Department. The woman returned from work about 10 p.m. Thursday, when she was attacked by a man who had broken into her residence in the 1100 block of Princeton Street, near Wilshire Boulevard, said Santa Monica police Lt. The burglar pulled out a knife, tied up the woman and raped her, Lindsey said. The man finally left the residence about 2:10 a.m., taking the woman’s ATM bank card and her tan 2003 Mercedes-Benz 500SL convertible, license number 5JLM188, said Santa Monica police officer Mike Solis. After the assailant left, the victim freed herself and went to a neighbor’s home.last_img
