Morocco Raising Awareness About Alzheimers Disease On World Alzheimers Day

Rabat –In recognition of World Alzheimer’s Day, l’Association Marocaine Alzheimer Maladies Apparentées (AMAMA) is staging an awareness campaign at the Centre Commercial Anfa Place in Casablanca on September 19-20th.The event is being held to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and to support patients and reduce their families’ hardship in dealing with their loved ones affected by the disease.The two-day event will include coaching and awareness activities for patients’ families and highlights the need for alzheimer’s to be among the top priorities of the Ministry of Health. Alzheimer’s is a disease that degenerates brain cells, resulting in the patient’s gradual loss of memory, speech, movement, and the ability to think clearly.Alzheimer University has reported that nearly 46.8 million people worldwide are living with dementia in 2015, implying one new case every 3.2 seconds. The number might rise to 74.7 million in 2030 and 131.5 million in 2050.In Morocco, there are currently no accurate figures regarding Alzheimer’s patients and insufficient diagnosis equipment.Alzheimer is said to have no effective treatment. However, the American Institute for Health and Tel Aviv University jointly conducted a study that indicated that the Islamic prayer “Salat” reduces the risk of developing Alzheimer by 50%.© Morocco World News.
